Individual Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy
Adults
Anxiety, low mood or depression can be experienced during any stage of life. Perhaps you are feeling stuck or lost and uncertain how to move forward.

You may be struggling to process difficult life events or loss. Perhaps you are experiencing emotional difficulties whilst approaching or having entered a new phase in your life.
Pregnancy and Parenthood
Pregnancy and parenthood are often portrayed as natural and blissful periods in a woman's life. However, many women go through distressing thoughts, feelings and emotions during this time. Keeping these experiences to yourself can be isolating and overwhelming.

There are many circumstances in which you may be going through this journey. You may be going through it alone or in a heterosexual or same-sex relationship. You may be a father or partner struggling with this phase in your life.

Whatever your circumstances and stage in your journey, I encourage you to get in touch so we can explore your situation together.
My Approach
My counselling and therapeutic approach is psychoanalytic in nature. It places importance on early childhood experiences and interactions with society and culture on how we see ourselves and others.

It is based on the idea that we keep difficult memories and experiences in the unconscious because they are too painful for the conscious mind to process. However, these experiences continue to have an unconscious influence on the way we think, feel and behave in relationships and situations in the present.

A psychoanalytical approach helps bring the more unconscious aspects of yourself into conscious awareness. It helps you gain a greater understanding of yourself and facilitates changes to existing patterns of being in order for you to live a more fulfilled life. The process is helped by us paying attention to what is happening in our relationship. Together we will observe how past conflicts find their way into the therapy situation where they can be thought about, understood and worked through.

I offer sessions both face to face or online (via Zoom). We can discuss which is most suitable for you taking into account your individual needs.

Counselling can be a highly rewarding and positive experience. However, it is important to recognise that counselling and psychotherapy is not for everyone. If the process of the way I work is not a good fit for you, I will help refer you to other services that are more suited to your needs.
